Content Policies

DISTROM by 1M Music Group · Last updated: June 2026

Important

This Content Policy applies to all content you submit to any Digital Service Provider (DSP) through DISTROMASTERS. Persistent and repeated violations of these guidelines could result in additional actions, including, but not limited to, the suspension or termination of our agreement.

Prohibited Content and Practices

Third-party owned content

  • Tracks whose rights you do not control (or, in the case of catalog transfers, that you have never controlled), or that include such tracks or portions of them.
  • Tracks with unauthorized samples.
  • Remixes, mashups, sped-up, slowed-down, or other derivative versions, unless you also control and distribute the original version or have the license to create and/or distribute such derivative versions.
  • DJ mixes, unless you control the rights to all tracks included in the mix or have the license for its commercial release.

Content that too closely resembles other people's content or infringes identity

  • Soundalikes (direct imitations).
  • Karaoke versions, unless you control the original recording.
  • Re-recordings, unless you control or have properly licensed the underlying composition and differentiate your re-recording from the original recording in the track's metadata field.
  • Remasters, unless you control the original recording.
  • Live recordings, unless you control the original studio recording.
  • Impersonation: Deceptive use of real artist names in metadata, artwork, or titles. Likewise, songs that include voices cloned or synthetically imitated via Artificial Intelligence of known artists without their written contractual authorization.

100% AI-Generated Music

  • The distribution of music tracks generated entirely (100%) by generative AI platforms (such as Suno, Udio, etc.) without real and substantial creative human participation, performance, or intervention is not permitted. The user assumes all responsibility for the lack of originality of such tracks.

Exclusivity Requirements for YouTube Content ID and Fingerprinting

To activate the rights claim system and fingerprinting (YouTube Content ID, Facebook/Instagram Rights Manager, TikTok), the audio track must be 100% exclusive. It is strictly prohibited to activate these systems for tracks containing:

  • Loops or samples of free use, non-exclusive or commercial (e.g., Splice, Looperman, GarageBand loops, etc.).
  • Musical beats bought or leased with non-exclusive licenses.
  • Public domain music (e.g., classical music versions, anthems, traditional Christmas carols).
  • Sound effects, white noise, nature or ambient recordings.
  • Audio extracted from video games, movies, podcasts, or television series.

Streaming Fraud (Stream Farming)

  • The purchase or use of automated services (bots, click farms, paid playlists of artificial growth) that inflate plays is strictly prohibited. These practices result in the immediate removal of the catalog, withholding of the economic balance, and passing on of fines applied by the DSPs.

Illegal or unacceptable content

  • Content that incites violence or hate, or contributes to real-world harm.
  • Defamatory content.
  • Hate speech.
  • Content that promotes exploitation or abuse of minors.
  • Content that promotes sexual violence.

Unwanted Content

While not prohibited, the following types of content may be considered unwanted by some DSPs and they may refuse to publish them:

Functional or noise content:

  • Meditation sounds.
  • Sleep sounds.
  • White noise.
  • Rain or other environmental sounds.

Duplicate, repetitive, or mislabeled content:

  • Multiple tracks under a new UPC when those tracks were already distributed under one or more previous UPCs.
  • Multiple tracks delivered under a new UPC where the same track appears more than once.
  • Tracks containing multiple ISRCs.

Explicit Content

If you deliver tracks containing explicit language but comply with this Content Policy, check the "Explicit" box during the distribution process.

Artist Responsibilities

As an artist or record label using DISTROMASTERS, you are responsible for:

  • Verifying that you own all necessary rights over the content you distribute.
  • Obtaining appropriate licenses for samples, collaborations, or covers.
  • Ensuring that metadata is accurate and does not infringe third-party rights.
  • Complying with the specific policies of each distribution platform.
  • Immediately notifying of any copyright issues.

  • Verification of technical quality (format, bitrate, duration).
  • Metadata review to detect potential infringements.
